At at the same time, long enough.

Okay, before we go any further: Read our previous story to get yourself caught up, because I don’t feel like repeating myself in the second consecutive front-page story because they couldn’t have just done this earlier.

Got the gist? Good.

Today, Activision Blizzard decided to roll out a second trailer, featuring actual gameplay of their characters cosplaying as Cybertronians in action. Have a gander:

There you go. That’s pretty much it. You can go now.

If you’d like to discuss this with other fans on our forums… well, as I said before (verbatim), we don’t really have an Overwatch thread, sequelized or otherwise. We do have this Activision Blizzard thread in our “Fun & Games” section, though. It hasn’t really been touched since the company laid off nearly 2,000 employees at the start of the year, so this might be a way to liven it up, yeah? No? Well, you can start a separate thread, if that’s your whim. In the Transformers Discussion section, perhaps? The trailer is kinda anime-ish, so PrimalxConvoy shared it in the “Japanese Transformers News” thread, even though that’s about as far as the relevance goes.

GameSpark News: Overwatch 2 x Transformers Collaboration Rolls Out Trailer and Comic Tie-In https://www.allspark.com/gamespark-news-overwatch-2-x-transformers-collaboration-rolls-out-trailer-and-comic-tie-in/ Tue, 09 Jul 2024 07:04:18 +0000 https://www.allspark.com/?p=11926 The world of the Transformers is no stranger to collaborations, crossovers, and tie-ins. Nor, as it happens, is Overwatch 2, the first-person hero-based shooter from Blizzard Entertainment, a part of Activision Blizzard, the one-time publisher of Transformers titles such as Devastation and War for Cybertron.

Does that mean anything? Maybe. Maybe not. Probably not. But keep it in your back pocket, I guess.

Anyway, those folks rolled out a trailer for a new collaboration that begins today, and features some of our favorite robots in disguise as skins (for the gamer illiterate, that’s basically like “costumes”) for a quartet of pre-existing characters from the game. Check ’em out:

Now, as I don’t really know a whole lot about Overwatch 2, I’m deferring to Polygon to inform you that the roles seem to be distributed as follows: Bastion (who the site describes as a “Triple Changer”) is Bumblebee, Illari is Arcee, Reinhardt is Optimus Prime, and Ramattra gets to be the sole Decepticon, Megatron.

For what it’s worth, Overwatch 2 principle artist Mike Hardison explained on SMOKAT that these are the Overwatch 2 characters cosplaying as the characters, rather than the actual characters themselves. That said, there is a little more meat to this crossover than just everyone playing dress-up, as they also released a free digital comic online called “Transmission” that shows Megatron establishing a trade with Ramattra: He gets Cybertronian tech in exchange for Megatron using him as an avatar in this world. Naturally, the Autobots can’t have that, and so the race is on to find new heroes to which they can lend their aid.

So… maybe these costumes are actually — say it with me — more than meets the eye?

Right.

So, anyway. If you play the game (it’s free on Nintendo Switch, Steam for PC, Xbox One/Series X|S, and PlayStations 4 & 5), for those interested by this), the costumes will be available starting today, July 9th, 2024. And if past crossovers, specifically the recent Cowboy Bebop, are anything to go by, they aren’t cheap. Those went for 2,500 Overwatch coins, or roughly $25/£21.

Oh, and that’s each, by the way. So kiss your favorite picture of Ben Franklin (or whatever the equivalent would be in other countries) good-bye if you decide to go all the way in on this.

If you’d like to discuss this with other fans on our forums… well, we don’t really have an Overwatch thread, sequelized or otherwise. Hot Wheels x Transformers Crossover Leaked https://www.allspark.com/hot-wheels-x-transformers-crossover-leaked/ Thu, 02 May 2024 11:07:34 +0000 https://www.allspark.com/?p=11554 Pull out all your orange track, ’cause we have our first leaked images of Hot Wheels x Transformers Bumblebee and Optimus Prime!

Coming from Instagram user’s T-Hunted and Matthew on Cars & Hot Wheels, we have a picture showing the packaging and rendering of Optimus Prime.

Even more exciting, though, is a series of pictures of an unspun (not yet riveted) Bumblebee toy from reddit user rj_nighthawk (mirrored below)!

The photos show that the line will consist of 1:64 scale versions of the Transformers in vehicle mode, with their robot mode face molded into the bottom, similar to the old RPM’s line.

Can’t wait to send these through a loop and into a wicked jump? Discuss them here in our forum!

Curious Toys R Us Listing May Shed Some Light on Upcoming Transformers Video Game, Toys https://www.allspark.com/curious-toys-r-us-listing-may-shed-some-light-on-upcoming-transformers-video-game-toys/ Wed, 18 Oct 2023 20:17:13 +0000 https://www.allspark.com/?p=9934 Poor Hasbro. It just seems like they can never keep anything under wraps before they’re able to announce it. Or, in cases like this, if they ever intended to announce it at all (at least, in the state shown).

A Toys R Us listing (yes, they still exist in Canada. Be jealous.) shows a 2-pack featuring a Voyager class Starscream figure paired with a Deluxe Bumblebee, as depicted in the upcoming Transformers: Reactivate video game from developer Splash Damage. But, aside from the fact we still know so very little about the upcoming title as it is, what makes this really interesting is that the branding on the package and website all shows Transformers: Rise, the game’s previous title in development.

What that means is that anything we see here may be subject to change upon the game — and these toys’ — release.

The description gives us some potential insight into how the story and action in the game may play out:

When the Quintessons attack New York City, an unlikely alliance must be forged to stop the alien threat. In Transformers: Rise, Autobots and Decepticons team up to stop the Quintesson menace before they take over the universe. This two pack includes an unlikely team-up: the scheming Decepticon air commander, Starscream, and the courageous Autobot scout, Bumblebee.

Autobots and Decepticons, fighting together, mass hysteria!

And according to the TFWiki entry for the game, the name of the occupying force is the “Legion,” potentially indicating a change to or from Quintessons.

The figures include a pair of Null Rays (natch), a pair of Ion Blasters, and have “premium metallic battle damage deco reflecting the character graphics in the video game.” Plus, the box they come in shows off some of the character models from said game.

As usual, Starscream turns into a jet, while Bumblebee flexes his T-cog a little, and now turns into a dune buggy.

Take a gander for yourself at the images we took from the listing (don’t rush, it’s listed as “Out of Stock”), mirrored here for posterity and historical archival purposes, if nothing else.

What do you think of these developments? Does it make you any more interested in finding out more about the game? Tell us in the “Transformers: Rise (console MMO) rumored” thread on our forums! (Hmm, we should probably look at renaming that…)

Then good news!

Transformers: Earthspark – Expedition is now available on all current consoles, some slightly-less current consoles, and the platform that transcends time itself, the PC.

From the press release:

On this action-packed adventure, players find Bumblebee on a mission to stop the villainous Dr. Meridian aka “Mandroid” as they freely explore three massive biomes and complete quests given to them by their new allies called the Terrans, an all-new generation of Earthborn bots created originally for the TRANSFORMERS: EARTHSPARK animated series. Along the way, Bumblebee will complete missions, unlock upgrades and discover hidden areas to explore as he encounters fan-favorite characters, including Optimus Prime, Grimlock, Skullcruncher, Nova Storm, and Skywarp.

TRANSFORMERS: EARTHSPARK – EXPEDITION launches with a number of accessibility features to facilitate independent play for multiple generations of fans. Variable difficulty options, text legibility and control setup options, alongside an assisted driving system can all be implemented for a completely customizable gameplay experience. Further enabling players to give their full focus to exploring biomes and battling enemies, directional warnings and an automatic camera have been incorporated, with prompts on screen to raise awareness of incoming threats in-game and to keep combat front and center.

Stephanie Malham, COO of Outright Games said: “We’re incredibly excited to finally get our latest game TRANSFORMERS: EARTHSPARK – EXPEDITION, into the hands of such a loyal and dedicated fanbase. We want this to be the ultimate TRANSFORMERS experience for anyone who loves these characters and this Universe, no matter their age. We can’t wait to see what adventures our players take Bumblebee on and are deeply grateful to our friends and partners at Hasbro for helping to roll out this exciting new video game.”

Eugene Evans, Senior Vice President of Digital Strategy and Licensing from Hasbro said: “Outright Games are experts in the family entertainment space and we’re delighted to have been able to work on this project with them. TRANSFORMERS: EARTHSPARK – Expedition is an incredibly faithful recreation of the show that many generations of TRANSFORMERS fans have grown to love over the last year. We’re incredibly excited to see fans dive in and discover everything the game has to offer!”

Transformers: Earthspark (no, I’m not typing that in all-caps) – Expedition is available now for $39.99 USD on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.

Have some more screenshots, and in case you missed it, you can find more about the game via our previous coverage here.

Bumblebee and Megatron Roll Out Into Fortnite in New Transformers Pack https://www.allspark.com/bumblebee-and-megatron-roll-out-into-fortnite-in-new-transformers-pack/ Fri, 06 Oct 2023 23:18:49 +0000 https://www.allspark.com/?p=9817 To celebrate the release of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts in theaters, Autobot leader Optimus Prime joined the fight in Fortnite at the start of the Summer. Now, as we head into the Fall, more fighters are headed into the world of Epic Games’ seminal battle royale video game. And of course, they’re more than meets the eye.

The Fortnite Transformers Pack contains three new Outfits (read: character skins), three new Back Blings (“not functional, but they are trendy”), three new Pickaxes (basically melee weapons that can be used to break stuff), two new Emotes (those silly dances and poses you see people doing), and 1,000 V-Bucks (in-game currency). For a more elaborate breakdown of what you’ll get:

Bumblebee Outfit: The best Autobot friend any human could have.

Bumblebee’s Wings Back Bling: Flight of the Bumblebee.

Stinger Sword Pickaxe: Feel the Sting. (Has the built-in Battle Ready Emote.)

Megatron Outfit: True power is not earned. It is taken!

Decepticon Emblem Back Bling: Decepticons Attack!

Energon Mace Pickaxe: Wield this mace fueled with Energon. (Has the built-in Fusion Cannon Emote.)

And finally…

Fortnite BattleBus Outfit: Beep! Beep! See you on the… me?

Bot Air Balloon Back Bling: From bus stops to hot drops.

Pick Axle Pickaxe: Dropping players in a whole new way.

Now, the Fortnite website says, “The Fortnite Battle Bus is not an official Transformers character, but that doesn’t mean it can’t get in on the fun too”. Not yet, perhaps, but the Transformers Collaborative collection exists just for this very purpose, does it not?

Anyway, physical copies of the Fortnite Transformers Pack will be available on October 13th for the Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 for $24.95 USD (not including tax, regional pricing may vary). Or if you’re riding the all-digital wave, you can purchase it through the consoles’ respective storefronts, the Epic Games Store, and the Fortnite Item Shop starting October 21st.

Did You Know? You might think of Fortnite as that battle royale game where everyone builds stuff, but they made that optional over a year ago. If you’re more of a Destructicon than a Constructicon, more Commando than Build Team, then you might be interested in “Zero Build.”

We don’t really seem to have a Fortnite thread currently going in the “Fun and Games” section of our forums, but if this news has inspired you to pick up a Fusion Cannon or Stinger Sword, then by all means, feel free to create one!

NEW! Hot Preorders for Transformers Legacy: United Wave 1! Beasts Wars! Rescue Bots! Transformers Animated! https://www.allspark.com/new-hot-preorders-for-transformers-legacy-united-wave-1-beasts-wars-rescue-bots-transformers-animated/ Sat, 23 Sep 2023 03:10:24 +0000 https://www.allspark.com/?p=9710 aWe are United to see some new toys today!

Today at Pulsecon 2023, we now know the full slate of wave 1 of Transformers Legacy: United! Let’s break it down:

We have Core classes here, Energon Megatron, back from the Unicron wormhole. Beast Wars II Tasmania Kid, the Japanese Cheetor. And the introduced character of the newly revealed Armorizers, Infernac Universe Boulderclash! Inhumanoids, babey! At least, that’s what is implied. Infernac is a pocket realm from the planet meltar, but Mark Maher say these creatures are the rock Daira creatures from the Japanese Headmaster series. What a strange mishmash, but interesting to see. It’s not a full on rock, but who wouldn’t want to rock on a rock motor biked.

You heard of Rock Lobster? Get ready for Rock Chopper!

Now we have Deluxes. We know about Animated Bumblebee getting this treatment (no leaks mentioned). We got Rescue Bots rep with Chase, the officer who doesn’t know the meaning of the word “rule-breaking”. A new Windblade, based on Cyberverse, after years of not getting a decently articulated version of her. Then, we have the new Armorizer character, Infernac Universe Magneous. His gimmick is he can make a battery ram from his pieces. Talk about coming in hot (he’s made of Volcanic ash).

I don’t think Turtle Wax will keep the ash out.

Voyagers, we know of one before. Animated Optimus Prime. Ready to protect and chop off Sentinel’s head for being such a jerk. Today, we now got Thundertron, the Star Seeker Space Pirate, who arrives to claim your booty (meaning treasure, mind you). Mark says he might be a little Zoid inspired, which gives us another Takara wrinkle in this version.

Leaders, we got one big doozy. A newly designed figure of Tigerhawk, the Vok fusion of Tigatron and Airazor! If you told me that this was the OG toy, I believe you. He looks like he never left the 90s in terms of engineering. Of course, we have a repacked Laser Prime, which is a little disappointing, but hey, if you didn’t get him before, you will have the chance now.
