To celebrate the release of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts in theaters, Autobot leader Optimus Prime joined the fight in Fortnite at the start of the Summer. Now, as we head into the Fall, more fighters are headed into the world of Epic Games’ seminal battle royale video game. And of course, they’re more than meets the eye.
The Fortnite Transformers Pack contains three new Outfits (read: character skins), three new Back Blings (“not functional, but they are trendy”), three new Pickaxes (basically melee weapons that can be used to break stuff), two new Emotes (those silly dances and poses you see people doing), and 1,000 V-Bucks (in-game currency). For a more elaborate breakdown of what you’ll get:
Bumblebee Outfit: The best Autobot friend any human could have.
Bumblebee’s Wings Back Bling: Flight of the Bumblebee.
Stinger Sword Pickaxe: Feel the Sting. (Has the built-in Battle Ready Emote.)
Megatron Outfit: True power is not earned. It is taken!
Decepticon Emblem Back Bling: Decepticons Attack!
Energon Mace Pickaxe: Wield this mace fueled with Energon. (Has the built-in Fusion Cannon Emote.)
And finally…
Fortnite BattleBus Outfit: Beep! Beep! See you on the… me?
Bot Air Balloon Back Bling: From bus stops to hot drops.
Pick Axle Pickaxe: Dropping players in a whole new way.
Now, the Fortnite website says, “The Fortnite Battle Bus is not an official Transformers character, but that doesn’t mean it can’t get in on the fun too”. Not yet, perhaps, but the Transformers Collaborative collection exists just for this very purpose, does it not?
Anyway, physical copies of the Fortnite Transformers Pack will be available on October 13th for the Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 for $24.95 USD (not including tax, regional pricing may vary). Or if you’re riding the all-digital wave, you can purchase it through the consoles’ respective storefronts, the Epic Games Store, and the Fortnite Item Shop starting October 21st.
Did You Know? You might think of Fortnite as that battle royale game where everyone builds stuff, but they made that optional over a year ago. If you’re more of a Destructicon than a Constructicon, more Commando than Build Team, then you might be interested in “Zero Build.”
