While the fate of Transformers: Reactivated remains unknown, and the state of Hasbro’s initiative to get the now Microsoft-owned Activision Blizzard back catalog of Transformers titles re-released is anyone’s guess, Outright Games announced today a new entrant in the digital arena of battles between Autobots and Decepticons.

Developed by 3DClouds, Transformers: Galactic Trials is not about the Cybertronian race being represented in a galactic court to stand trial for all the devastation their war has brought to countless planets (but if someone wants to create an Ace Attorney spoof fan game that does that, there’s your prompt), but rather, it’s a game that mixes racing and “rogue-lite” combat.

As the story goes, the evil Nemesis Prime has stolen the Prime Relics, leading to both Autobot and Decepticon alike to set out on an adventure to recover the artifacts and take control of the “incredible powers” they can grant. Among those vying for the prize are, of course, mainstays such as Optimus Prime, Megatron, Bumblebee, and Soundwave. Backing them up — or perhaps in it for their own reasons — are Autobots Arcee, Wheeljack, Elita-1, and Decepticons Flamewar, Shockwave, and Nightbird. And it looks like they’re all sporting their “Evergreen” designs.

They will race across “battle-race circuits” to collect the relics and beat their opponents as they race arcade-style in vehicle form and engage in combat in robot mode, all in an effort to defeat their enemies and make it to the finish line. Hmm, think Velocitron will play a part in this? Because this sounds like exactly the kind of game that planet was made for.

As players progress and collect relics, they’ll be able to level up their skills and unlock new “iconic” playable characters and skins. Hopefully that means there are more characters than we’ve seen already, and not just that half the ones named above are locked away. After all, who wouldn’t want Hot Rod and Blurr to join Bumblebee on the track?

There are two game modes: Galactic Trials and Arcade. The former is the single-player mode where you’re out to collect relics, while the latter is where you can race locally with a friend in 2-player mode, create your own custom race tracks, characters, and weapons, or enter “location-based specialized tournaments.” Not quite sure what that means; is it based around a specific in-game location? Or do I have to hope they come to Toronto in order to participate?

“As TRANSFORMERS celebrates its 40th year alongside the theatrical premiere of its first fully CG-animated film, TRANSFORMERS ONE, we are proud to continue our collaboration with Outright Games to unveil an epic journey that speaks to the enduring legacy of the iconic brand,” said Eugene Evans, SVP Digital Strategy and Licensing at Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro. “With immersive gameplay, and a storyline that resonates with fans old and new, TRANSFORMERS: Galactic Trials is sure to ignite excitement. Through this all-new TRANSFORMERS racing experience, we continue to expand our digital offerings through strategic licensing and internal development and we can’t wait for TRANSFORMERS fans to see what else we have in store.”

Outright Games has formed a track record of publishing Transformers games, which includes Transformers: Battlegrounds and Transformers: Earthspark – Expedition, among other licensed titles. The developer, 3DClouds, doesn’t have quite the same track record with the license, but we’ll see how they do when the Matrix of Gamership is passed to them when they release Transformers: Galactic Trials on October 11th, 2024, on Xbox, Nintendo Switch, Steam for PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.

Transformers: Earthspark – Expedition Now Available for Consoles and PC https://www.allspark.com/transformers-earthspark-expedition-now-available-for-consoles-and-pc/ Fri, 13 Oct 2023 23:24:27 +0000 https://www.allspark.com/?p=9895 Want more Transformers: Earthspark, but can’t stand to wait around for the next season? Then good news!

Transformers: Earthspark – Expedition is now available on all current consoles, some slightly-less current consoles, and the platform that transcends time itself, the PC.

From the press release:

On this action-packed adventure, players find Bumblebee on a mission to stop the villainous Dr. Meridian aka “Mandroid” as they freely explore three massive biomes and complete quests given to them by their new allies called the Terrans, an all-new generation of Earthborn bots created originally for the TRANSFORMERS: EARTHSPARK animated series. Along the way, Bumblebee will complete missions, unlock upgrades and discover hidden areas to explore as he encounters fan-favorite characters, including Optimus Prime, Grimlock, Skullcruncher, Nova Storm, and Skywarp.

TRANSFORMERS: EARTHSPARK – EXPEDITION launches with a number of accessibility features to facilitate independent play for multiple generations of fans. Variable difficulty options, text legibility and control setup options, alongside an assisted driving system can all be implemented for a completely customizable gameplay experience. Further enabling players to give their full focus to exploring biomes and battling enemies, directional warnings and an automatic camera have been incorporated, with prompts on screen to raise awareness of incoming threats in-game and to keep combat front and center.

Stephanie Malham, COO of Outright Games said: “We’re incredibly excited to finally get our latest game TRANSFORMERS: EARTHSPARK – EXPEDITION, into the hands of such a loyal and dedicated fanbase. We want this to be the ultimate TRANSFORMERS experience for anyone who loves these characters and this Universe, no matter their age. We can’t wait to see what adventures our players take Bumblebee on and are deeply grateful to our friends and partners at Hasbro for helping to roll out this exciting new video game.”

Eugene Evans, Senior Vice President of Digital Strategy and Licensing from Hasbro said: “Outright Games are experts in the family entertainment space and we’re delighted to have been able to work on this project with them. TRANSFORMERS: EARTHSPARK – Expedition is an incredibly faithful recreation of the show that many generations of TRANSFORMERS fans have grown to love over the last year. We’re incredibly excited to see fans dive in and discover everything the game has to offer!”

Transformers: Earthspark (no, I’m not typing that in all-caps) – Expedition is available now for $39.99 USD on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.

Have some more screenshots, and in case you missed it, you can find more about the game via our previous coverage here.

New Transformers: Earthspark – Expedition Gameplay Trailer and Release Date https://www.allspark.com/new-transformers-earthspark-expedition-gameplay-trailer-and-release-date/ Fri, 08 Sep 2023 19:08:41 +0000 https://www.allspark.com/?p=9619 Outright Games, developer of the upcoming Transformers: Earthspark – Expedition video game, has just dropped a new trailer for their buzzworthy game. What makes it “buzzworthy”? The fact that you play as Bumblebee, of course!

From the press release:

TRANSFORMERS: EARTHSPARK – Expedition was recently showcased at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany and San Diego Comic-Con where it was first made playable to fans of all ages. This new trailer shows off the explosive action and expansive environments found in the game, as well as a deeper look at some of the epic missions players will be able to undertake.

Have a look-see for yourself:

In TRANSFORMERS: EARTHSPARK – Expedition, players take control of Bumblebee, as they battle across diverse biomes, defeat enemy Decepticons, unlock new abilities and learn devastating combos. Other iconic characters from the TRANSFORMERS universe will make an appearance to help or hinder Bumblebee on his quest, including Optimus Prime, Grimlock, Skullcruncher, Nova Storm, Skywarp, and more!

Sadly, there’s no sign of the heart and soul of the show, the “Maltobots,” aka the Terrans and their human family, the Maltos. Hopefully we’ll get to see them pop up at some point before the game’s release. Granted, they’ll probably just be in cutscenes, but still. As cool as this version of Bumblebee is, it would be a shame if his protegees were to miss out on the action.

But maybe they’re in one of these screenshots? Have a look, and see if you can find any sign of Robby, Mo, Twitch, Thrash, Hashtag, Jawbreaker, or Nightshade:

In addition to the new trailer and assets, we also have a previously-unannounced release date for you. Transformers: Earthspark – Expedition comes to Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC on October 13th, 2023.

And if you missed the original announce trailer from a couple of months ago, check it out:

What do you think? Does it look any better to you now than it did then? Or do you think it could still use some work? Talk about it in the “Transformers: Earthspark” thread on our forums!
