But maybe this will be close enough for a while?

As reported previously, Hasbro Pulse magnanimously brought the four original Transformers episodes they removed from their YouTube channel back, around a month after their short-lived 40th anniversary theatrical run was completed. There was hope that when they brought back the first episode, which saw a table reading redub as part of the theatrical event, that said table reading would be a part of it.

Alas, it was not to be.

That is, until now! Or rather, until soon! About a week from when this post goes live, anyway.

Here, have a trailer:

Transformers Generation 1 S01 E01: Table Read! With special guests: Arif S. Kinchen & Frank Todaro

New Netflix Power Rangers Show Goes Kablooey? https://www.allspark.com/new-netflix-power-rangers-show-goes-kablooey/ Wed, 12 Jun 2024 06:18:00 +0000 https://www.allspark.com/?p=11763 Ever since Power Rangers Cosmic Fury seemingly brought the 30-year running live action television series to a close, possibly in light of a new reboot with Netflix, things have been… quiet.

Too quiet.

Quiet enough to make moves like Hasbro offloading the Power Rangers toy license to rival Playmates instill worry in the Ranger Nation.

Well, it would seem that there has been a reason for that quiet, according to a report from TVLine.

According to them, the Power Rangers/Netflix deal to develop a new series is donezo. The project, which had been in development for more than two years, is no longer moving forward. Instead, Hasbro Entertainment is looking to explore “a new creative direction for the series” with a new partner.

The as-yet unnamed series that had been in the works prior had Daisy & the Six co-executive producer and veteran Supernatural story editor Jenny Klein acting as its showrunner. They are said to have been working in collaboration with Jonathan Entwistle, co-creator of Netflix’s I Am Not Okay With This and The End Of The F***ing World, who has been overseeing the franchise’s television and motion picture prospects.

Allspark forum member Steevy Maximus weighs in with their thoughts on the matter: “THAT’s probably why Hasbro gave Playmates a license to make toys. Their big media plans fizzled and they’re passing the franchise off for cheap license dollars until… they do something?”

“It’s not entirely unprecedented,” Steevy continues. “Mattel kicked Masters of the Universe to Super7 for about [four] years until Mattel started their renewed initiatives in 2020. We could be looking at a similar situation with Power Rangers, get Hasbro some easy license dollars until they figured out what they want to do with Power Rangers. Be it a continued effort at an American initiative or go back to converting Super Sentai.”

For more details, be sure to check out the full TVLine article, brought to us by new Allspark user Ookalf.

Hasbro Pulse Lights Our Darkest Hour by Returning Episodes They Removed https://www.allspark.com/hasbro-pulse-lights-our-darkest-hour-by-returning-episodes-they-removed/ Tue, 11 Jun 2024 05:13:02 +0000 https://www.allspark.com/?p=11710 What a roller coaster the past few months have been. But at long last, we appear to be nearing the end of this saga.

It all began back in March, when some eagle-eyed fans noticed that the first four episodes had been removed from (well, set to “Private”) the official Hasbro Pulse YouTube channel. What could this mean? Was this going to be the beginning of more takedowns of archived Transformers episodes, or even episodes from other Hasbro properties?

We reached out to Hasbro themselves to see if they could provide an answer. That went about as well as you’d expect.

Then in April, it was revealed that the same four episodes that had been removed would be shown in cinemas! Well, some cinemas. Depending on how lucky you were. And for three non-consecutive days in May, no less!

When the time finally came, fans ventured forth to take in this new experience, and… well, it was an experience.

At the very least, the redubbed first episode went over well. Well enough to leave some wondering why they didn’t just redo the other two parts of “More Than Meets The Eye,” if not all four episodes being shown.

Then, just as quickly as it came — well, quicker, really — it was gone. Over. Finished.

Yes, I’m invoking Furmanisms when talking about the cartoon, and you can’t — won’t — stop me.

As I was saying, the 40th anniversary experience came and went, and the episodes that Hasbro opted to remove from YouTube remained gone from the platform.

But now, hope shines anew!

Our heroes at Hasbro Pulse put out this official announcement, stating that yes, True Believers, it’s really happening: Hasbro Pulse is restoring the episodes they removed from their YouTube channel for three and a half months back to the YouTube channel from which they were originally removed!

It all happens on Friday, June 14th at 12pm EST, and you can be a part of it!

“But,” we know you’re asking, “will the newly redubbed live voice reading version of the first episode be included this time?”

We don’t know! They haven’t really said here one way or the other.

If you’re ready to give Hasbro Pulse the heroes’ welcome they so richly deserve, then head on over to the “G1 Episodes in Select Theaters in May” thread (because why not? It’s close enough) in our forums to plan the ticker-tape parade in their honor. (I get to drive the float.)

Is Paramount Pictures bringing the hammer down? Chris Hemsworth in talks to star in the Transformers/G.I. Joe movie! https://www.allspark.com/is-paramount-pictures-bringing-the-hammer-down-chris-hemsworth-in-talks-to-star-in-the-transformers-g-i-joe-movie/ Sun, 02 Jun 2024 23:45:15 +0000 https://www.allspark.com/?p=11676 Thor’s time the charm.

Looks like this Transformers/GI Joe crossover is really happening, still. Paramount producers are closing in on the the God of Lightning himself to star in their next franchise endeavor.

While some say they don’t know Hemsworth outside from his Marvel work, he has starred in some pretty impressive pictures as of late. If you want to see what else he’s made of, I suggest you see him as the deranged cult leader, Dementus, in the latest Mad Max film spin-off from visionary George Miller, Furiosa. A fantastic action flick about the title character’s origin, and her quest to find her home and seek revenge against Dementus, who took everything from her. Everyone should just check out, regardless.

Chris Hemsworth Shares New Details About His "Violent" Furiosa Villain ...
Please go see Furiosa, folks.

Who Is Dementus? Chris Hemsworth's Furiosa Villain & Mad Max History ...

Chris Hemsworth on his off hours in Australia

And, of course, he will be Orion Pax in the upcoming Transformers:One animated film, due out Sept. 15th 2024.

Whether that means he’ll appear as a Joe or a human in an Optimus Prime Party City costume remains to be seen. It would be funny but cool to see Transformers go the tokusatsu route in live action.

Is the Transformers 40th Anniversary Event Worth Your Hard-Earned Shanix? https://www.allspark.com/is-the-transformers-40th-anniversary-event-worth-your-hard-earned-shanix/ Fri, 17 May 2024 03:11:40 +0000 https://www.allspark.com/?p=11647 Premiering in theaters around the world on Wednesday, May 15th, the Transformers 40th Anniversary Event is slated to have showings for just two more days in the near future: Saturday, May 18th, and Sunday, May 19th. Check your local listings, times and availability may vary.

Rather than a reshowing of the original 1986 feature film, Hasbro has instead elected to celebrate the 40th anniversary of their beloved franchise by going all the way back to the beginning. Back… further back… wait, are you grabbing a copy of Marvel’s The Transformers #1? Okay, while accurate to the time of year, that’s too far back. Push it up a bit. Yeah, there we go.

Ahem. Rather than reshowing the original movie, they’re reshowing the first four episodes of the original smash-hit syndicated cartoon television show.

Something about that ring a bell? Yep, those are the same four episodes they pulled from their YouTube channel back around March or so, but with some bells and whistles, or at least some variety of party favors and noisemakers added.

So, how is it? Here’s Internet Personality and fellow Torontonian Vangelus with his debriefing of the event he attended:

This pretty much corroborates what Allspark forum member Sabrblade had to say:

Overall, the atmosphere of the room was… formal. I had originally wanted to get there early so I could hang out and chat with other fans before it started, but IRL stuff kept me from getting there any sooner than about five-to-ten minutes before it started. When I got there, the room was real quiet as the typical pre-trailer ads were playing, with no one talking to each other and everyone keeping to themselves. The guy sitting to my right even moved over one seat during the first episode. The only people in the room who seemed to be having any fun enjoying themselves were a small group sitting toward the middle-right of the room (I was up in the back row), who could be heard chuckling at some of the zanier points in the episodes, and one of them made a “Ha! Superhuman Spike!” joke when Spike punched Rumble in the first ep. But other than them, the room was fill with dead silence from everyone else. And when it was over, we all got up from our seats to leave and nobody said a single word to anybody in the room. Only a few folks said they had fun to some of the ushers standing outside the theater room waiting to come in and clean up, but the total vibe of the room was really introverted and unfriendly, very much the opposite of how TF fans act when at conventions, in my experience. It felt less like a fan event and more like a formal opera experience where nearly everyone is on their best behavior and really stiff.

The redubbed first episode of “More Than Meets The Eye” sounds like it’s not to be missed, and yet, maybe not worth the price of admission, especially as the revitalized episode seems to leave the rest of the apparently Rhino-quality episode presentation feeling a little lackluster for the expected experience by comparison.

If you do decide to go, however, and you’re into this sort of thing, be sure to grab the Transformers 40th Anniversary Event popcorn bucket and cup combo (especially since they’re reportedly going for $50 on eBay right now)!

I’d consider going for the cup alone, but it would seem that we don’t have those in Canada.

You can also get them, along with other neat Transformers merch, online at the Cinemark Shop for $12.99.

Also, that’s for the U.S. only, too. Bah.

Anyway, have you checked the Transformers 40th Anniversary Event out for yourself already? Were you even planning to? Are you still planning to, or planning to go again? Or have these testimonials warded you off, and you’re just going to hope they do an online showing of it or something? Tell us all about it and find out what your fellow fans think over in the “G1 Episodes in Select Theaters in May” thread in our forums.

Maximize Your Merch with Rare and Unusual Beast Wars Items from This TFcon Panel https://www.allspark.com/maximize-your-merch-with-rare-and-unusual-beast-wars-items-from-this-tfcon-panel/ Tue, 07 May 2024 04:29:53 +0000 https://www.allspark.com/?p=11582 Collecting Transformers merch is one thing, but Beast Wars is a whole other animal.

Former Transformers Creative Manager Rik Alvarez is back, and this time, he’s not alone! This time, he’s teaming up with Peter Chavez IV to bring you all sorts of weird, wild, and downright wacky stuff from not only the American run of Beast Wars, but Japan’s Beast Wars II and Beast Wars Neo as well!

In addition to some crazy goods like an inflatable Optimus Primal sword (which apparently has a Socker Bopper-like counterpart shaped like Megatron’s T-Rex head-hand), lots of collector’s coins, crazy covers for Japanese theme song singles, and so much more, there are also some interesting trivia tidbits, like the time there was a contest to transform Randy and Mach Kick that had no winner, Fun Pub’s plans for the Beast Wars II Galvatron mold in their first convention set, and an untold western origin for Lio Convoy.

How many of these do you have? Heck, do you have anything shown here? Did you ever get to try Beast Wars II sausages? We don’t have a thread for it (as of this writing), but you can always start one over in the Transformers Discussion section of our forums, and tell (or even show) us all about it!
