Biden-Harris / Dems

If Biden isn't the nominee it will be Kamala Harris, and I think she'll fare about as well as Joe. She'll clobber Trump in the second debate
She didn't impress me in the VP debate 4 years ago.

But... I mean...Trump has never impressed anyone without a red hat on in any debate.

*shrugs.

And I'm fine with presidents whom have actual military service (preferably in which they were honorably discharged.) because it means they understand and can live with the requirements of an oath of service, work in a highly rigid bureaucratic structure and understand the nature of sacrifice.
There are a lot of ways to be President as long as you know which way you are doing it and know where to get the pieces you are missing. I know really very little about President Eisenhower, but what he needed to accomplish in the White House was VERY different from what he needed to accomplish in WW2. At the same time, you don't get as high in the army as he did without some political skill. But you can get that high without understanding much about domestic policy or even statecraft. When he was moving troops around, FDR and Truman were talking to the other heads of state. He had great name recognition. It's fine as long as he knew where to find helpers. You can be President by running an organization of specialists and then it is a lot like being a general.

George W Bush had been governor of Texas, but he won that office right after his dad finished being President. It is likely that he got it the same way that he got the White House. Name recognition. And the folksy demeanor that attracted him enough votes in the right places to beat someone who was pretty tight on policy issues, but came across as arrogant and boring. And leaving whether we agree with policies out of the discussion, he had a pretty successful Presidency. He accomplished things. He was probably aware that his biggest job was to win elections. Dick Cheney probably couldn't have done that. But he could run a White House.

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

Well, yeah. You literally cannot do the entire job of "head of state" (in general, not referring to just the US.) without understanding that it's not a one man job. You need experts, advocates and underlings to actually do stuff. Part of it is a robust understanding of self to know where you as an individual is lacking and then getting the people needed to round out the experience.

That's the problem with MAGA in specific. They are absolutely ignorant and laughably assume they're the smartest ones in the room. So there's no teaching them, no talking to them, no reasoning with them. When you claim to never be wrong: you're just a broken clock.

Obama could make a speech (don't know if he wrote any), write a book (I think he wrote them), win a debate, and get elected. It is difficult to get a look under the hood because the White House organization is always designed to look as much as possible like the President is running the show. But the reason his speeches and debates went so well was because he is very smart and understood the issues. He didn't have to nail a soundbyte. If you asked him a question, he knew the answer.

Clooney said the Biden at the fundraiser he organized a few weeks earlier was the same Biden from the debate.

The Biden campaign replied Joe has more stamina than Clooney.

"George Clooney, not everyone's favorite actor (remember Batman & Robin? killed the franchise for a decade.) Frankly, I did him a favor attending his event. I was there longer than Low Energy George; he left his own fundraiser before me! Can you imagine? And as thanks he attacks me, your favorite president, in the Failing New York Times."

Thats clearly not actually written by Biden, but weirdly reads like a Trump tweet.

Oh my word, this is how Trump wins. It’s inevitable now. Every western democratic nation and their allies should already be preparing for a second Trump presidency if they have any sense.

But you all are making a wonderful statement about how much this is affecting you. Maybe take a couple of days off the political grind?

He's not just chiming in as an actor. He's chiming in as one of the party's biggest fundraisers. If he's out, his whole donor network might be out.
He's not out. He knows just as well as the rest of us what will happen if trump gets in again. He's just making sure the party knows that the money isn't happy.

SO GLAD this is the only "viable" option to try and prevent a more direct form of fascism.

One way or another trans folks are just gonna get thrown under the ******* bus.
